It is evident that text message Appointment Reminders to scheduled patients is a MUST for the health industry to implement. The cost of a few pennies for this technological reminder is peanuts compared to the cost of missed appointments on the higher end of cost, and other forms of reminders currently used on a wide spread basis such as voice mail, on the lower end of cost. Basic SMS text messaging must be incorporated as a tool for the health industry. 98% of all cell phones in America are text enabled… Kaiser Permanente is ahead of the curve by incorporating text message appointment reminders. Hopefully they will lead the way into this cost efficient use of technology.
