ECG necklace presented at IEEE event: IMEC, an independent research center for nanoelectronics and nanotechnology, along with its affiliate center, the Holst Centre, presented a protoype electrocardiogram (ECG) necklace at the IEEE Engineering in Medicine + Biology Conference (EMBC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA) this week. Smartphone pager messenger service adds text to voice: Wallace Wireless, a key health technology partner for BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion, announced a partnership with MIR3 to add text-to-voice to the company’s BlackBerry smartphone pager messenger application. Wallace Wireless smartphone pager service, called WIC Messenger “delivers important messages reliably through multiple communication paths: email, BlackBerry PIN, and SMS.” The partnership with MIR3 means that now both the text of the notification and its response options can be read aloud by MIR3’s intelligent text-to-speech engine. Medtronic’s Paradigm Veo: According to a report over at MedGadget, Medtronic debuted a new wireless insulin pump/continuous glucose monitoring system called Paradigm Veo. The device aims to protect users against episodes of hypoglycemia when the patient ignores dropping sugar levels. The device alerts the wearer of an upcoming event and then automatically stops the insulin pump if no action is taken. FDA still reviewing for U.S. market. More

    To be a little more clear, we actually added the MIR3 solution to WIC Messenger our contact management and notification solution. We did not add it to WIC Pager, our pager replacement and alerting solution.
