“When I was thinking about what next steps are appropriate for me, I’ve always said: ‘How do I get involved with something that is transformative? How do you get involved with something that is focused on the patients? How do you get involved with something that is going to be growing and make an impact?’” Don Casey, the newly appointed CEO of the West Wireless Health Institute said in a recent video interview. “After spending time with Gary, Eric and others you really get the sense that this is going be the place to be for next generation of healthcare technology. If you think about it, today we do all of our financial work on the computer and we do everything on our iPhones or smartphones. That transition has not occurred in healthcare,” Casey said.

“It’s going to be a wild ride.”

I had the great privilege to work with Don in his last company. He is an inspiring leader, visionary, passionate, energising and willing to invest in building a business where others hesitate or can see only a need to consolidate and cut. He sees beyond boundaries (geographic ; cultural, financial and historical), and he enthuses others with his energy. This is an outstanding appointment (and another example of JnJ’s sad talent haemorrhage under their 28-million-dollar-man).
