Since 2006 Cisco has helped power an mHealth program in Kenya that equips doctors with PDAs or cell phones to record data and access information for a variety of medical conditions, including possible treatments outlined in easy-to-use flowcharts. medGadget reports on IBM’s Web-based “radiology theater” that lets physicians interact via white boards and video while sharing data and images on ECGs, radiology images and more. Since the portal is entirely Web-based, physicians can even access it through smartphones.

McGill University’s nursing school in Canada is conducting a pilot for diabetes monitoring using BlackBerrys.
