Digital health companion app for employees and insured individuals Humanoo recently landed $6.4 million (€5 million) in funding. The investment was led by Dieter von Holtzbrinck Ventures, and included investments from Creathor Ventures, Rheingau Founders, Rocket Internet, and other investors.
The Berlin-based company plans to use the investment to expand the platform and advance cooperation with health insurance companies and insurers.
“On average, a German employee is absent 21 days a year. If we add the unproductive days that employees appear in the office despite being ill, each company loses an average of €4,600 per employee every year,” Philip Pogoretschnik, founder and CEO of Humanoo, said in a statement. “Most of these sick days are relatively easy to avoid. With HUMANOO we help companies to keep their workforce physically and mentally healthy. In addition to corporate health management, we offer users a holistic platform that combines all content under one roof and rewards health activities and interaction.”
The app is designed to combine health, exercise and nutrition information. It lets users manage personal wellness goals, as well as search for programs and exercise sessions. It also provides users with more than 500 recipes that fit their nutritional preferences and consider how much time is available to cook.
The platform lets companies set specific health challenges for their employees, and awards performance scores to users. Employers can use these scores to give out bonuses, or offer a premium reduction from health insurance companies and insurers.
On the payer side, Humanoo generates comprehensive reports, which the company said can be used to better understand the health and wellbeing of employees.
“Many companies have now realised that healthy employees pay off,” Christian Weiss, partner at Creathor Ventures, said in a satement. “However, the offerings available to date are often not scalable across all areas of the company and hardly permit any impact measurement. Humanoo closes this gap with its digital health platform, which makes it possible for the first time to offer tailor-made solutions for every user.”
