Today I'm very excited to announce our latest offering: The MobiHealthNews Podcast. This month MobiHealthNews writer Jonah Comstock and I interviewed a half dozen people about trends surrounding "self-diagnosis", which is at the heart of so much of what we write about here at MobiHealthNews.
The concept of self-diagnosis has existed for at least as long as the concept of the medical professional. With the rise of digital health, patients have more tools than ever before to make more personalized decisions about their own health. Today, the concept of self-diagnosis appears to be eroding as some doctors are beginning to welcome patients as valued members -- partners -- of the care team.
In this 20 minute podcast Jonah and I speak to:
- Susannah Fox, Associate Director of Digital Strategy at the Pew American Life Project
- Dr. Eric Topol, Director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute, Author: The Creative Destruction of Medicine
- Dr. Roni Zeiger, Former Google Chief Health Strategist, Current CEO of SmartPatients
- Hugo Campos, ePatient
- Walter De Brouwer, CEO, Scanadu
You can stream the show from Hipcast -- listen in here. We'll add other options for listening in the coming days.
Each month our editorial team will piece together a show on a major trend, issue, or problem related to mobile and digital health. Our first effort here has a fantastic lineup of interviews and some great content. This is our first experiment with audio and as such we've got plenty of work to do on production value, but we believe this show will add to the many meaningful discussions going on in mobile health today.
As always any feedback is most welcome: brian.dolan@mobihealthnews.com
