Three Companies Join the Continua Health Alliance Board of Directors

Ascension Health, CA and Qualcomm Aid the Advancement of Continua

BEAVERTON, Ore.– Continua Health Alliance, the non-profit, open industry alliance of more than 200 leading healthcare and technology organizations, today announced that it has elected representatives of Ascension Health, CA, Inc. and Qualcomm to its Board of Directors. Also represented on Continua’s Board of Directors are Cisco Systems, Inc., Intel Corporation, Medtronic Inc., Kaiser Permanente, Panasonic Corporation, Partners Healthcare System, Royal Philips Electronics, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Roche Diagnostics, Samsung Electronics Co LTD., and Sharp Electronics Corp. These influential technology and healthcare organizations are driving the personal telehealth solutions industry worldwide. 

The Board of Directors works together to ensure that Continua achieves its mission to develop a global system of interoperable personal telehealth solutions that fosters independence and empowers people and organizations to better manage health and wellness.

“Ascension Health looks forward to sharing our expertise in healthcare to help Continua Health Alliance achieve its goals,” said Hyung Kim, MD, MBA, Vice President of Research for Ascension Health and Managing Partner of its Transformational Development division. Dr. Kim will represent Ascension Health on the Continua Board. “As the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S., Ascension Health is working to transform healthcare as we pursue our mission of serving all with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable, and we are happy to bring valuable insight to support Continua’s mission to empower people and organizations in their healthcare.”

“As a leader in the enterprise IT management industry, it is an exciting opportunity for CA to join Continua’s Board and participate in the organization’s collaborative effort,” said Tom Boyle, VP, Market Development, CA, Inc. Boyle will represent CA on the Continua Board. “As a software company we recognize the importance of Continua’s mission and look forward to assisting in the development of interoperability standards. This will be foundational in the building of truly comprehensive and integrated ‘connected health’ systems and delivering on its promise to provide new and comprehensive methods of care for at-risk populations. The 2009-2010 officers of the Continua Health Alliance Board of Directors also were named. Rick Cnossen of Intel will serve as President, Horst Merkle of Roche as Vice-President, Bruce Henderson of PricewaterhouseCoopers as Treasurer, and Doug McClure of Partners Healthcare System as Secretary.
