Australia-listed health tech company Global Health has unveiled a new mobile app for accessing patient records from its MasterCare EMR solution.

WHAT IT DOES

According to a media release, the MasterCare Connect app gives online and offline access to critical patient information at the point of care. It enables offline work, allowing a clinician to continue filling out information on the app. It updates new data back to the core EMR system when an internet connection is available.

In terms of security, the app uses TSL protocol to fully encrypt any data coming through WiFi. It also has a user authentication mechanism that includes an Access token with a 15-minute limit and a Refresh token with a 1-day expiry.

WHY IT MATTERS

Global Health said that based on user feedback, clinicians wanted greater access to patient information as they work remotely. The app allows them to bypass web-based clinical applications and directly retrieve patient information from anywhere. "This also minimises the data loss for clinicians when they are in remote care settings," it added.

Moreover, Chief Product Officer Kye Cherian mentioned that the app has "tremendous ability and opportunity" to help medical professionals in community health by improving access to critical patient data.

MARKET SNAPSHOT

Last year, DrChrono introduced an open FHIR API that enables the transfer of patient data from the OnPatient personal health record to the iPhone-based Apple Health app.

Indian health tech developer HealthPlix Technologies added a new analytics tool on its EMR platform. The ROBIN analytics feature includes a dashboard that tracks the critical aspects of patient visits.

In other related news, Estonia-based Epillo Health Systems made its web and mobile EHR products available in Singapore, Malaysia and India in June last year. The INTRx Clinical system helps clinicians manage patient portfolios and assists in handling appointments, as well as administrative and financial workflows. It connects with the consumer-facing Epillo mobile app that provides access to medical records and prescriptions.
