An auditory training startup in Australia has bagged a $20,000 services package from Queensland-based digital marketing and branding firm Guerilla. Elliot Miller, founder of Hearoes, recently took home the Founder of the Year award from the 14-week Lumina-X HealthTech Accelerator programme for startups in the healthcare industry.
WHAT IT DOES
Hearoes was borne out of Miller's experience with his cochlear implant. The startup now provides a hearing training platform that empowers people with hearing loss through gamified and engaging activities, combined with proven assessments used in rehabilitation sessions, to identify new sounds. It has collaborated with audiologists and speech pathologists in developing interactive auditory training.
Available on both iOS and Android devices, the app offers modules, each containing a series of different specialised activities supporting users at various stages of their hearing journey.
WHY IT MATTERS
Guerilla will be supporting Hearoes as it develops and executes strategies to scale. Aside from the service package, the startup also received a year of coworking space and business support from Cohort Innovation Space in Queensland.
THE LARGER TREND
Earlier this year, Hearoes raised A$190,000 ($140,000) from global venture capital firm Antler during a pre-seed round.
ON THE RECORD
"We're thrilled to be awarded first prize for the Lumina X HealthTech programme and we look forward to the experience of working together with Guerrilla to further help those with hearing loss hear new sounds and build confidence," Miller said.
