A leading healthcare operator in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recruited the San Jose-headquartered Automation Anywhere to provide artificial intelligence (AI)-powered software bots to its systems. Its aim is to “improve patient care and automate end-to-end business processes” during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Saudi German Hospitals (SGH) UAE – which runs three tertiary care operating hospitals and one multidisciplinary clinic in the country – is collaborating with the global Robotic Process Automation (RPA) provider to transform both front and back offices, it confirmed in a statement.

THE LARGER CONTEXT

As part of its mission to streamline services, the group aims to “modernise key touch points”, it stated, including patient on-boarding, billing, office management operations, and other high-volume financial processes, such as processing insurance eligibility, insurance pre-authorisation and patient enrollment. The collaboration is said to have been facilitated by the Dubai-based business transformation company, Advansys ESC.

“The addition of [the] newest automation capabilities will allow SGH hospitals to add value and support caregivers in the treatment process by providing deeper insights on the patient's specific condition, lifestyle and patient behavior in real-time,” explained Reem Osman, Group CEO of SGH UAE. “The cognitive and AI technology infusion will empower our Intelligent Patient Platform to expand competencies and deliver better outcomes.”

ON THE RECORD

Milan Sheth, executive vice president, IMEA at Automation Anywhere elaborated: “Intelligent automation empowers healthcare organisations to perform more time-consuming, manual tasks, freeing up staff to treat an increased number of patients by improving hospital efficiencies.

“Medical systems impacted by the global pandemic are seeing how automation technology can have a huge impact on a patient’s progress by implementing bots for processes, such as simplifying patient appointment scheduling, streamlining account settlements and managing healthcare workflows. All of this time saved can go right back into patient care.”
