MedApps and home healthcare monitoring provider VRI (Valued Relationships) have partnered up to distribute 3,000 units of MedApps' HealthPal system across the United States.
VRI will first use MedApps' HealthPAL system, then switch to the upcoming HealthAIR upon its release. Both run on MedApps CloudCare platform. MedApps previously partnered with CardioNet last year and received FDA clearance for their system back in 2009.
HealthPAL is a small, portable, and dedicated device (pictured) that MedApps uses to collect data from connected glucose meters, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters and weight scales. The data is then sent over a secure server to an online portal like Microsoft’s HealthVault for caregivers, physicians or the patient themselves to view.
"We think VRI's ability to monitor the daily vital signs of patients with conditions like diabetes, hypertension and congestive heart failure will be enhanced with the MedApps System," stated Kent Dicks, CEO and founder of MedApps in a press release. "This is a perfect alignment with VRI's goal of increasing patient awareness and empowering them to be more involved in their own care management and improve their health situation."
"The MedApps team shares our dedication to explore leading edge technology to provide quality care solutions to people living with chronic disease," stated Andy Schoonover, CEO of VRI, in a press release. "We both know and believe in the benefits of remote monitoring, and we both understand the obstacles that have made widespread adoption a challenge - cost, complexity and compliance - we think the MedApps solution goes a long way in addressing these issues today."
