Chicago-based Zest Health, which has developed an app that helps people view and understand their health benefits, raised $6 million from 7wire Ventures, Lightbank, Zaffre Investments, Martin Ventures, Dallas Venture Partners, and LSAN/Azimuth Ventures.
Payors or self-funded employers can offer this tool to their members and employees via Zest Health's iOS and Android apps. App users are able to view their health benefits, track healthcare spending, resolve claims and billing concerns, contact a registered nurse through a 24-7 concierge support line, and schedule appointments with in-network providers.
Zest Health was incubated at investment firm 7wire Ventures, which has previously invested in health gaming company Ayogo, medication adherence company MediSafe, diabetes management company Livongo, and WiserTogether, which offers a healthcare treatment comparison offering. Zest Health was cofounded by 7wire Managing Partners Glen Tullman and Lee Shapiro, who are now on the Zest Health's board.
“Zest Health empowers both consumers and corporations with information to more intelligently navigate the healthcare system and save money,” Zest Health President Shawn Ellis said in a statement. “... The Zest Health platform enables smart choices about healthcare by supporting choice of provider, scheduling delivery of services, and a better understanding of the costs of those services. Zest Health makes cost transparency data actionable.”
Some of Zest Health's customers include Chicago-based Presence Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island, self-funded employers.
