Global Health joins Asta Swisstec's project to expand healthcare access in remote regions

Digital health IT provider Global Health has taken a 20% equity stake in Northern Territory-based Asta Swisstec Health to join a project that delivers health systems and services to remote and underserved areas across Australia and Southeast Asia.

Since 2018, Asta Swisstec Health, a partnership between Swisstec Analytics and Asta Solutions, has been bringing end-to-end IT solutions for technology integration and services to hospitals and clinics around Asia. It aggregates technology and specialist services and provides technical and specialist consulting services, as well as develops bespoke software for identified projects and services.

Last year in June, the company, together with Royal Philips, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Northern Territory government to create Deployable Healthcare Modules (DHM) to raise the access to health services for remote and regional communities in northern Australia and Southeast Asia.

With the addition of Global Health's range of software platforms, the DHM project now composes a comprehensive digital healthcare ecosystem supported by urban-based medical and allied health specialists for remote and under-serviced communities, said Global Health Executive Director Matthew Cherian.

Their partnership with Global Health, according to Dr Naveed Alam, clinical director of Swisstec Analytics, will "substantially strengthen the ecosystem that we have been building and is aligned with our strategic vision to deliver tech-enabled, high-quality services for healthcare providers into remote and under-serviced regions in Australia and surrounding countries".

Health IT providers Valentia Technologies, HealthSoft to power Whānau Tahi's social, health services

Whānau Tahi, a New Zealand-based social enterprise that provides case management solutions for the Maori social and health sectors, has partnered with health IT providers Valentia Technologies and HealthSoft for a long-term strategic collaboration.

Based on a media release, the partners will jointly identify and deliver key projects aimed at "enhancing and customising" the core Whānau Tahi technology systems.

Through this partnership, the organisation will adopt technologies from Valentia and HealthSoft to power its support services, making their teams "better informed, resourced, and supported" as they do their work, said John Tamihere, CEO of Waipareira Trust, the owner of Whānau Tahi.

Their collective objective is to focus on consumer experiences and technology that "will give whānau the confidence and authority to improve their health and wellbeing". 

Valentia offers health tech solutions that support advanced healthcare delivery, while HealthSoft develops the specialist pharmacy platform RxOne. Whānau Tahi previously worked with HealthSoft for the integration of dispensed medicines data from RxOne to its NZePS prescription data repository.

InteliCare adds over 60 health devices to its Health Metrics reporting

Aged care tech provider InteliCare has integrated over 60 health devices into its Health Metrics reporting feature, enabling access to more critical health data.

This includes the addition of TGA and FDA approved iHealth devices, as well as leading brands, such as Fitbit, Omron, and Garmin.

These devices provide data on blood pressure, weight, respiration, body temperature, heart rate, blood oxygenation, blood glucose and activity levels. These products also alert carers to ongoing and emerging health risks of their patients.

The device integration was made possible through its partnership with the US-based health data platform Persona Informatics, which enables InteliCare to access and integrate health data from various fitness and medical devices.

According to InteliCare CEO and Managing Director Jason Waller, the addition of these health devices is "of particular importance to health and care services which are striving to digitise and innovate their services as Australia transitions into a post-pandemic future".

"We have entered an era where valuable health data can be effectively generated and collected outside the traditional healthcare system. Bridging this gap between the day-to-day lives of at-risk patients and their care providers is a game-changer for the industry," Persona co-founder Nick Egarhos also said.

Moving forward, all new Persona-supported wearable devices will become available immediately within InteliCare's sensor agnostic platform.
