Addiction-focused behavioral health provider Praesum Healthcare announced a partnership with ObservSMART to utilize its wearable device and staff tablet to perform patient checks on noncompliant patient populations.
ObservSMART offers patented, tamper-resistant wearables that help providers comply with patient checks and document a patient's location and behaviors. Providers can complete proximity-based patient checks using synced tablets, and the company's app sends notifications to providers to help them remember to check on patients and alerts supervisors if a patient check is missed.
Praesum Healthcare has implemented ObservSMART technology into its New Jersey, New York, Florida, Massachusetts and Georgia facilities to assist with patient monitoring.
"We are pleased to be working alongside Praesum Healthcare, a leader in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. We share the common goal and commitment of providing the highest standard of patient care and safety. ObservSMART provides their staff the best tools for patient safety, compliance, staff communication, and efficiency," Noreen Gottfried, vice president of ObservSMART, said in a statement.
THE LARGER TREND
A study published in JAMA Network revealed that continuous remote monitoring of patients in general medical settings improved outcomes and decreased the burden on providers to obtain vital signs.
Other companies offering remote patient monitoring solutions include Israeli-based Neteera, which offers contactless remote patient monitoring, and Singapore-based health tech company SmartFuture, which provides a software development kit for remote patient monitoring that allows the integration of a white-labeled RPM functionality into existing apps and web portals.
