DeParlePresident Obama has named Clinton Administration vet Nancy-Ann DeParle to the post of Director of the White House Office for Health Reform. The position is commonly referred to as the "health czar," which Obama's first pick for HHS secretary (and health czar) Tom Daschle coined. Obama also publicly confirmed reports that Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius will lead the HHS.

DeParle managed Medicare and Medicaid in the Clinton administration. She also oversaw Tennessee's Department of Human Services in the late 1980's. DeParle is a board member of Cerner, Medco Health, and Boston Scientific.

"This isn't a partisan challenge," Sebelius said after Obama's announcement today. "It's an American challenge and one that we can't afford to ignore. This election was a vote for change and nowhere is that change more important that in reforming the health care system of America. Nancy-Ann DeParle and I have worked together in the past on health care issues, and I look forward to having a great partner in the effort moving forward."
