Juniper Research analyst Anthony Cox believes that 2010 sees mHealth iniativies "shaping up": "It may still be early days for mHealth to provide a consistent (and significant) revenue stream to operators, but don’t write it off just yet," Cox writes over at Juniper Research's blog. "The launch by Vodafone’s CEO Vittorio Colao of its mHealth business unit could be coming at a time when the mobile health market just begins to gain some traction." More

Health economist Jane Sarasohn-Kahn consults the tea leaves for 2010 in a recent column over at iHealthBeat. Among many predictions, Sarasohn-Kahn advises readers to "expect to see richer health apps in 2010 with greater resolution and functionality." She also predicts that in an effort to "enable patient-professional collaboration, we'll see further offerings of telehealth to the home, accessible by patients themselves." More

ZDNet's Dana Blankenhorn has a thoughtful analysis of the many "remote monitoring doesn't work for ICUs" articles that hit the Web following a study about telemedicine in ICUs. One key closing thought from Blankenhorn: "Studies will now need to be done measuring just how many patients each intensivist can monitor, using technology, before the risk of death rises. Measures also need to be taken on how risks and costs measure up depending on the skills and training of others on the team, like nurses." More
