PatientsLikeMe, a patient network platform wherein users can learn from others with the same condition, share experience and support, and track and manage health, appointed Marni Hall as its new senior vice president of research and policy. Hall comes from the FDA, where she was most recently the Director of Regulatory Science within the Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology for the organization’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. A research scientist by training, Hall has spent almost two decades analyzing the intersection of science and policy, and is an expert at sourcing and analyzing big data sets.
HealthMine, the Dallas, Texas-based wellness platform that collects and analyzes clinical and lifestyle data from users to identify health risks and chronic conditions, brought on two new members to its advisory board. Dr. Donald R. Fischer and Dr. Mitesh S. Patel, both longtime physicians, are expected to strengthen the company’s clinical knowledge. Fischer, an oncologist, brings a background in medical management and policy, and Patel, a primary care physician at the Philadelphia VA, has researched behavioral health and economics.
AccentHealth appointed Jennifer Sewell as Senior Vice President of Client Care and Services. The company, which provides in-office patient education via waiting room programs, interactive tablet tools and messaging services, is located in over 30,000 doctor’s offices across the country. Sewell will work in the company’s Tampa, Florida office, and will be responsible for expanding AccentHealth’s account management team and implementing new programs to work with a growing network of healthcare providers. Sewell has over 20 years experience in the healthcare services industry, and joins AccentHealth from Ceridian Corporation.

Bright Heart Health brought on addiction medicine specialist Dr. David Kan as the medical director of its opioid abuse program. Bright Heart Health, headquartered in San Ramon, California, provides telemedicine treatment for a range of addiction disorders – including opioid and other substance abuse, as well as eating disorders – through two-way video conferencing. Kan is board-certified in general and forensic psychiatry as well as addiction medicine, and he will oversee medical procedures and policies.
Robert Kraal will join Amsterdam-based myTomorrows, which uses technology to connect patients to diagnostic tests and drugs in development. Kraal will be the company’s new chief operating officer, responsible for scaling up the myTomorrow’s platform.
"The myTomorrows mission attracted me powerfully. It was a simple case of 'this has to be done',” Kraal said in a statement. “Patients and doctors need earlier access to drugs and relevant real life data.”
