Topol's new title and more digital health hires and departures

Dr. Eric Topol, cardiologist, author, and digital health evangelist, has a new title at Scripps Research Institute: executive vice president, according to Politico. He'll retain his previous role as director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute.

Politico noted in the same report that Mark Segal is leaving GE Healthcare, where he served as VP of government affairs. Segal is setting up a solo consultancy called Digital Health Policy Advisors.

Doctor on Demand cofounder (and former CEO) Adam Jackson is part of a trio of entrepreneurs and investors that have started a new digital asset investment company called Cambrian Asset Management. Jackson will serve as chief technology officer while Martin Green and Jay Posner will serve as co-chief information officers.

Former DNAnexus Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Shaywitz, who co-hosts the Techtonics podcast and contributes to Forbes on digital health topics, is joining Takeda Ventures as a senior partner, Shaywitz announced on Twitter. The new role won't affect his podcasting or writing endeavors.

UK digital health company Now Healthcare Group, which works with the NHS and makes an app for medication management, prescription refills, and telehealth, has hired a new head of e-commerce, Alun Lucas

"I am delighted to join a technology company which is at the forefront of disrupting the healthcare industry and has so many exciting opportunities to grow," Lucas said in a statement. "Our Now Patient app has been extremely well-received in the market-place and we are predicting by the end of 2017, we will be supporting upwards of 20 million people across the world through our innovative health tech solutions."

Pillpack has added a new member to its board of directors, and another new member to its strategic advisory group. Jim Messina, who ran President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, is joining the board. 

"PillPack has always advocated for a more open, competitive pharmacy market," CEO TJ Parker said in a statement. "This will spur new business models, drive down prices, and be better for customers. Jim has been an ally from the beginning. He helped PillPack become, today, the only independent pharmacy with nationwide home-delivery. Adding Jim to the Board gives us a strategic advantage in a rapidly shifting industry."

Additionally, Pillpack is adding Harvard professor and former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers as a strategic advisor. Summers brings public health and ecomonics expertise to the company.

Healthcare blockchain company MintHealth has added Wyche “Tee” Green III, founder and former CEO of Greenway Health, to its board of directors.

Under Armour announced a number of executive changes that affect the sports apparel company’s Connected Fitness business, including the departure of MyFitnessPal founders Mike and Albert Lee, the company’s chief digital officer and SVP digital product, respectively.

David Bergman, who has served as acting CFO since February, will officially move into the company's CFO role. He stepped into the role after CFO Chip Molloy stepped down for personal reasons. Bergman has been with Under Armour since 2004. Additionally, Michael LaGuardia, former head of product for Yahoo! Finance and Yahoo! Sports, will join in Albert Lee’s former role as SVP Digital Product. He’ll oversee digital product development out of the company’s San Francisco office. More.

Pinterest President Tim Kendall is leaving the company, according to Recode, to build a new healthcare startup. While the details on the new effort are sparse, Recode says it will be related to fighting device addiction and addressing attendant health problems.

Finally, Suneel Gupta, who founded direct-to-consumer nutrition coaching startup Rise Health and saw it through to an acquisition by One Medical Group, has launched a congressional campaign in Michigan's 11th district. Gupta spoke at MobiHealthNews's event last year. He left One Medical Group in December 2016.
