HealthTap, a virtual primary care provider, is partnering with AeroFlow, a company that delivers medical products and services, to enter the durable medical equipment market (DME), allowing patients to more easily access primary care and DME services.

HealthTap provides virtual primary care, including mental health, urgent care, sexual health and wellness, and lifestyle services. Consumers can review a doctor's bio and credentials, watch video interviews to designate their preferred doctor, and then schedule an appointment to see the provider.

Aeroflow offers patients easy access to integrated health solutions that are covered by their insurance. The company also offers an extensive catalog of healthcare products and services for a variety of conditions, such as maternity care, diabetes, sleep health and urology.

The partnership will allow Aeroflow customers who do not have an established primary care provider to connect with a licensed HealthTap physician in their medical group where they could receive DME-related consultations.

In addition, HealthTap's doctors will be able to offer personalized care that goes beyond DME prescriptions.

"This partnership with Aeroflow is a pivotal step in HealthTap’s mission to make primary care more accessible and comprehensive by integrating critical resources like durable medical equipment directly into our virtual care model," Sean Mehra, cofounder and CEO of HealthTap, told MobiHealthNews in an email.

"Together, we’re helping patients easily access both medical expertise and essential equipment, ensuring continuity of care that goes beyond a single visit. For HealthTap, this collaboration also signifies our ongoing momentum in bringing meaningful, scalable healthcare solutions to Americans who need it most. Expanding into the DME market allows us to reach more patients, strengthening our platform’s ability to support long-term health outcomes."

Casey Hite, CEO of Aeroflow Health, said that as the demand for DME continues to grow, his company is "excited to collaborate" with HealthTap to provide patients with enhanced access to healthcare services.

"This partnership reflects our shared commitment to improving health outcomes through accessible, integrated care solutions," Hite said in a statement.

THE LARGER TREND

In June, HealthTap announced that patients in all 50 states would be able to use their insurance when they seek virtual primary care visits on the HealthTap platform. With standard copays, patients would have access to a wide range of clinical services when needed.

In 2023, HealthTap announced that its members had access to the newest version of Dr. A.I., a pre-appointment interview tool that enhances visits by providing more meaningful time with the doctor. Dr. A.I. is an artificial intelligence powered by ChatGPT 4 that conducts patient interviews based on their medical history and the reason for their visit.

In 2022, HealthTap and multinational electronics company Samsung announced a strategic partnership to bring virtual healthcare to Samsung Smart TVs in the U.S. The partnership extends HealthTap's services to Samsung TV owners, who will be able to connect to HealthTap's healthcare platform and visit with a health provider via a connected television camera.
