Healthcare software company Commure announced it acquired digital care navigation platform Memora Health.
Commure provides a FHIR-compliant development platform for health systems, vendors and startups to build healthcare applications and software. The company offers a suite of products including Scribe, automatic clinical documentation powered by AI; Strongline, wearable duress badges that allow healthcare workers to call for and receive help; and RCM, financial operating systems for health practices and health systems.
Memora Heath is an AI-enabled platform that helps providers manage complex care needs, including automated reminders, messaging, scheduling and metrics.
The aim of the alliance is to integrate Memora's patient navigation tools with CommureOS's proprietary integration engine.
The combined platform will allow healthcare organizations to individualize patient care pathways and drive improved clinical and operational outcomes.
Additionally, Memora is expected to reinforce Commure's existing AI-powered portfolio of patient engagement, clinical documentation, revenue cycle management and real-time location systems offerings.
"The acquisition of Memora Health is a significant step forward in our mission to simplify provider, patient, and administrator workflows," Tanay Tandon, CEO of Commure, said in a statement.
"By combining Memora's intelligent care navigation with Commure's existing solutions, we can deliver a seamless experience for providers and care teams, and enhance patient support throughout their healthcare journey."
Kunaal Naik, CTO and cofounder of Memora Health, said his company's technology and "unique approach" to care navigation have been confirmed by major health systems, health plans and digital health companies.
"As part of the Commure platform, we can continue to scale the next-generation patient experience to millions who need support throughout their care journey," Naik said in a statement.
THE LARGER TREND
In 2021, Commure raised $500 million over two rounds of funding. At the time the company was valued at $3.5 billion.
Commure also acquired Karuna Health, a virtual health communications platform. Through the transaction Commure gained Karuna’s team, customers, technology and insights.
Last year, Memora Health raised $30 million led by General Catalyst, with participation from Northwell Health's venture arm Northwell Holdings, PagsGroup, NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health and others.
In 2022, Memora partnered with perinatal and prenatal health AI company PeriGen to provide coordinated women's healthcare from childbirth to postpartum. The alliance allowed health systems nationally to perform continued care during labor and delivery to post-discharge monitoring for the same patient.
