Solv, maker of an urgent care appointment-booking app, is looking to expand its services into the testing space with a new product aimed at connecting consumers to lab services.
The tool lets users find and book local test labs for 25 different services, including blood tests, drug tests, HIV tests, STD tests and diabetes tests. Users are also able to use the service to find a COVID-19 test. Solv’s app and website provide users with additional information regarding what each test is for and how to interpret results.
"Now more than ever, consumers want to know when and where they can get high quality healthcare near them. Too many Americans deferred everyday care during these past 18 months, and in many ways our Test Finder is an answer to that problem," Heather Fernandez, co-founder and CEO of Solv, said in a statement.
"We want to help consumers nationwide get any test they need today, with the same ease-of-access they have come to expect with other convenient care needs on Solv."
WHY IT MATTERS
Digital health companies are increasingly expanding their lab services. For example, direct-to-consumer care company Ro purchased on demand in-home care company Workpath. Thanks to this acquisition the company is able to send a phlebotomist to a patient’s home for lab draws.
There are also a number of direct-to-consumer at-home tests on the market. Everlywell scored $175 million in 2020 for its lab test kits, and rapid diagnostic startup Cue Health raised $200 million in its September IPO. In fact, iHealthcareAnalyst predicts that the rapid-diagnostic test-kit market will reach $35.6 billion by 2027.
THE LARGER TREND
In September, Solve scored $45 million in a Series C funding round led by Acrew Capital and Corner Ventures. This came just a year after the company announced it had raised $27 million in a Series B+ funding round.
While Solv may be best known for its same-day appointment booking system, in July the company revealed a number of new services including EHR integrations, EHR robotic process information, advanced queuing and in-app test results.
