Vendor Notebook: APP Health to develop real-time patient consent interface

APP Design, a software development firm specializing in the design, development and integration of healthcare systems, announced that it has been selected to design and develop a real-time patient consent interface for WNYHealtheNet through its RHIOnet product. RHIOnet is a secure, Web-based, healthcare information exchange system designed to deliver accurate and timely healthcare data to caregivers distributed across wide geographical areas.

Stanley Healthcare Solutions has launched three new product initiatives for its patient security platform. Mobile Point-of-Care Interface harnesses smart phone and other standard mobile computing technologies. Voice-Activated Control integrates Vocera’s two-way voice technology into the Patient Security platform. New Kisses mother/infant matching provides automatic and audible support to traditional matching bands.

Ingenix announced that Web.Strat, its advanced medical encoding system has been implemented by HealthEast Care System, one of the largest health systems serving Minneapolis and Saint Paul.  HealthEast implemented Ingenix Web.Strat as part of a long-term strategy to increase the efficiency and accuracy of its medical coding operations and to reduce administrative costs across all 20 of its hospitals, clinics and outpatient centers.
 
CoActiv Medical announced that Quinnipiac University has selected CEXAM-PACS for its innovative diagnostic imaging educational center, which provides students in a wide range of imaging-related medical specialties with hands-on experience using a full suite of state-of-the-art technology. The center also provides a focal point for the university’s mummy research project and other innovative non-traditional imaging programs.
 
BridgeHead Software announced that it's been enlisted by the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust to provide healthcare data and storage management solutions as it implements plans around improving operational efficiency, cost savings and patient care. The deployment of BridgeHead Software’s solutions will enable the trust to create an environment that optimizes the storage, management and protection of Rotherham’s clinical and administrative data.

Viztek, a digital imaging company, has been selected by Park Avenue Family Practice of Yonkers, N.Y. to provide its advanced Viztek U-Arm digital radiography (DR) system to support increased x-ray imaging volume. Historically, the busy facility has performed a high volume of between 40 and 50 x-ray exams daily.  During the past twelve months, this volume grew considerably, leading to the recent Viztek purchase.  Prior to the DR installation, the imaging site was using a Viztek computed radiography (CR) system, connected to a Viztek Opal-RAD PACS.

Carestream Health announced availability of an affordable new tabletop CR, the CARESTREAM DIRECTVIEW Vita CR System that provides rapid image access to help increase both the speed and accuracy of patient diagnosis. This compact imaging system is ideal for use in independent imaging centers, clinics, multi-physician offices, as well as chiropractic and veterinary facilities. It is available in countries where the company’s current tabletop CR systems are sold. It will be marketed directly to customers and through dealers.

Lantronix, a provider of secure, remote management and device networking solutions, announced the release of ManageLinx 3.0. The previous version of ManageLinx provided simple and secure remote access and management for virtually any piece of equipment behind firewalls. This new release extends the reach of cloud-based computing to machines, devices, and applications which may be located behind firewalls.

Ekahau, maker of high performance Wi-Fi-based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), announced that Clarian Health, Indiana's most comprehensive academic medical center consisting of more than a dozen hospitals throughout the state, is deploying Ekahau RTLS systemwide for asset tracking. The initial 10,000-tag deployment, scheduled to take place in November, will target the health care system’s three downtown Indianapolis hospitals — Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children — and is expected to expand systemwide to include applications such as improved patient workflow, staff safety and temperature management.
 
NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, a subsidiary of Quality Systems, announced that it has been named a preferred vendor of electronic health records by Ohio Health Information Partnership (OHIP), one of two federally designated regional extension centers (RECs) for Ohio. NextGen Ambulatory EHR version 5.6 will be part of a select group of products recommended by OHIP to physician practices, community health centers and critical access hospitals for use in meeting meaningful use criteria.

Juniper Networks announced that Carilion Clinic, a Roanoke, Va.-based not-for-profit health care organization, has built a new network data center based on Juniper Networks switching and routing technologies to support the growing needs of its comprehensive clinic and new medical school. Carilion Clinic deployed Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches and M Series Multiservice Routers powered by Junos software across its new secondary data center and campus networks to ensure seamless, highly reliable delivery of mission-critical applications to more than 600 physicians spread across eight hospitals.

Sage Healthcare Division, a provider of electronic health records and practice management software serving approximately 80,000 physicians throughout the United States, has been named a preferred vendor by the Ohio Health Information Partnership to make available the Sage Intergy Meaningful Use Edition to all of the Regional Extension Center’s (REC) thousands of participating healthcare providers.
 
Ingenix announced that CCHIT has designated its Ingenix CareTracker version 7 a CCHIT Certified 2011 Ambulatory EHR. CCHIT tested the ability of Ingenix CareTracker to help physicians conduct core functions, including medication and allergy verification and interaction checks, electronic prescribing and quality measurement and reporting. Ingenix CareTracker is a fully CCHIT Certified EHR, indicating that successful implementation has been verified by CCHIT in at least two physician practices.

Carestream Health announced that Intermountain Healthcare of Salt Lake City has signed an agreement to implement CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems and CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits from Carestream Health. These new systems will allow Intermountain to convert existing computed radiography and film-based imaging systems to direct digital image capture. The new technology will enhance workflow and increase productivity in the radiology departments of Intermountain facilities. The retrofit kit will enable Intermountain to allow existing mobile x-ray systems to deliver immediate digital capture using DRX-1 detectors.
