Smart eyeglasses maker Vuzix, which makes glasses that use augmented and virtual reality for both consumer and enterprise markets, has teamed up with wearable software platform company Pristine. As part of Vuzix’s Industrial Partner program, Pristine received one of the first early access of Vuzix’s latest hardweare (the M300 Smart Glasses). Pristine’s Eyesight platform will create a hands-free collaboration that enables nurses to live-stream audio and video during their patient care visits to a remote wound care expert or doctor.
CellTrak Technologies, provider of mobile health care delivery and management solutions, will work to develop Toronto-based University Health Network’s Medly program. The Medly application allows patients with chronic diseases to self-manage and self-monitor their health by providing access to personalized information and connecting it to healthcare professionals.
Elkton, Maryland-based Union Hospital, a 122-bed not-for-profit community hospital, has selected healthcare communications platform Spok to use in both its contact center and clinical areas. The project began with requests from Union Hospital’s nurses, who wanted to receive telemetry monitor alarms on their phones to speed response. The Spok platform will allow for secure texting, paging services, safety response and workflow optimization.
Minneapolis-based TreeHouse Health, which invests in emerging healthcare companies, has added consulting and research company Accenture to its list of “anchor tenants.” In this role, Accenture will assign some of its healthcare consultants to the TreeHouse facility to help the company evaluate new portfolio companies as well as advise and engage other emerging digital health companies.
Cubii, an under-desk elliptical machine, is now able to sync with the Fitbit app. Now, employees who are working out during work can track and record their activity and calories burned, as well as the number of steps they take with Cubii. The device can convert under-desk elliptical strides to steps, and features an app available on iOS and Android that connects via Bluetooth to update users on their daily workouts.
