Vida Health's new CFO and other digital health hires

Vida Health, which makes a digital therapeutic platform for employees with chronic physical and behavioral health problems, has announced two new hires. The first, Stephanie Peng, will come on board as the company’s new chief financial officer. Previously a member of Livongo’s team, the company said that her experience with digital health will help with ongoing expansion efforts.

“Vida is on the precipice of something huge,” Peng said in a statement. “The product, the science, and the demand are all culminating at the same time. Vida is poised to capture this unique moment in time and ensure that digital therapeutics for chronic disease are effective and ubiquitous. I’m excited to apply my background to help the company scale.”

The second hire is Raymond Lee as vice president of product. Lee has held a similar position at Proteus Digital Health, where he help launch the company’s fully-integrated digital medicine service offering.

“Behavioral science is the most effective way to improve health outcomes for patients with chronic disease. Vida understands that better than anyone,” Lee said in a statement. “Working with Vida’s extraordinary product team to continually bake the best behavioral science into our model is going to have huge impacts on health, particularly when applied at the enterprise level.”

Another pair of additions were also announced by Everyday Health Consumer, a series of digital publications offering health and wellness content. Maureen Connolly will be stepping into the role of vice president and editor in chief to oversee content publishing and optimization for the company’s flagship publication as well as other associated sites. Ali Hasan will be serving as the vice president and head of engineering, and will lead front and back-end development and delivery, along with other responsibilities.

"Connolly and Hasan's background and expertise span the breadth of servicing mass media, global agencies, and digital audiences resulting in valuable advances to healthcare, disease management, patient communities, and analysis,” Lisa Kennedy, executive vice president and  general manager for Everyday Health Consumer, said in a statement. “I could not be more confident in our business today especially with their talent, experience, and cultural fit.”

Deven McGraw, who was reported to have recently departed her position as deputy director for health information at HHS’ Office for Civil Rights, announced on Twitter that she has joined the startup Ciitizen. The company was recently announced by founder Anil Sethi, formerly of Apple, and will focus on improving the transfer of patient records.

DocuTap, provider of EMRs and practice management software for urgent care clinics, has a trio of executive hires, alongside 70 new staff members. The three hires include Matt Blosl as chief revenue officer, Monte Sandler as executive vice president of revenue cycle management, and Adan Steinberg as senior vice president of account management. DocuTap said in a statement that the executive and staff hires will support the company’s recent customer growth and help prepare for future challenges.

Olivier Oullier, formerly the global head of strategy in health and healthcare as well as an executive of the World Economic Forum, has joined neuroinformatics company Emotiv as its new president. Oullier will be leveraging his nearly 20 years of neuroscientific research on perception, decision making, and consumer behavior lead the company’s investigations of AI cognition and emotions, according to a statement.

“We are thrilled to have a president join our global group with the caliber and capabilities of Olivier Oullier,” Tan Le, CEO of Emotiv, said in a statement. “Emotiv is on a mission not only to better understand the human brain but to provide access to brain health for all. Our mobile neurotechnology and analytics are already used to improve healthcare outcomes, accelerate personalized learning, [and] increase car safety and employee performance. Olivier’s leadership and unique track record in scientific research, business, and policy making will allow Emotiv to move to the next level.”

Elemeno Health, which makes a virtual coaching software for healthcare teams, has welcomed Fred Toney, CEO and cofounder of Launchpad Digital Health, to its board of directors. Launchpad hosts Elemeno in its San Francisco accelerator, and recently led Elemeno’s $1.3 million seed round of funding.

“Elemeno Health is changing healthcare delivery at the frontline with its SaaS virtual coach for healthcare teams,” Toney said in a statement. “This proven mobile platform provides nurses, doctors and hospital staff with a simple solution that notably improves quality and patient safety at the point of care.”

Wearable airbag deployment belt-maker ActiveProtective’s executive board has expanded to fit Katy Fike, partner and cofounder of Generator Ventures. This addition came as ActiveProtective announced more than $4.7 million in funding in a round led be Fike’s firm.
