AI-based patient safety company MedAware has announced a partnership with Allscripts that will bring its medication decision support product to the latter company’s EHR system. With this, providers choosing a prescription for their patients in a live setting will receive notifications concerning medication-related risks, such as adverse drug events or opioid dependency, and can amend their recommendation if deemed necessary.

Qardio announced today that its QardioMD remote monitoring plaform is now integrated with Greenway Health’s EHR and practice management systems. As a result, doctors using Greenway’s platforms who are providing Qardio’s monitoring products to their patients can see their remote data displayed across the two company’s systems.

Healthcare IT firm IllumiCare announced yesterday that its Smart Ribbon technology has been integrated in 22 hospitals using Epic’s EHR, with more facilities being added. The technology offers wholesale cost information for medications, lab tests, and other services alongside within the EHR in a way that, according to the company, is unobtrusive for providers.

University Hospitals’ effort to bring genomic data into its clinical workflow will be powered by the 2bPrecise platform, according to a statement released yesterday. 2bPrecise, a subsidiary of Allscripts, was chosen for its cloud-based and EHR-agnostic design, University Hospitals said, and will be a key part of the integrated health system’s push toward precision medicine.

In conjunction with the Puerto Rico Department of Health, World Housing Solution and Florida Hospital Nicholson Center deployed three custom-built solar powered mobile medical clinics to the U.S. territory. The units serve as a general medical clinic outfitted with X-ray, OB-GYN, and dentistry capabilities, and include telemedicine capabilities for live video conferencing with medical experts.

Scandit’s mobile data capture tech was at the heart of a recent successful pilot conducted by the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust under its Scan4Safety program. Specifically, the company’s software-based barcode scanning offering was integrated with the trust’s electronic patient record system, which allowed providers to scan patient writstbands using mobile phones and other smart devices. According to a statement, staff participating in the pilot were able to conduct an increased number of scans and were pleased with the technology.

“The pilot to test the Scandit solution worked so well that both clinicians and nurses didn’t want us to take it away,” Stuart MacMillan, program manager at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said in a statement. “In terms of Scan4Safety eProcurement deliverables, we are now in a very strong position, so our next task is to plan how we roll it out to more than 800 devices across the Trust and engage with staff in other departments, particularly in the operating theaters.”

Healthcare blockchain company Medicalchain announced yesterday that it has signed a joint working agreement with Mayo Clinic to investigate the technology’s role in care.
