Here are all the digital health deals, partnerships, and customer wins that MobiHealthNews has tracked over the past two weeks.
 
UK-based pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline partnered with South San Francisco-based Verily to create Galvani Bioelectronics – a joint venture to develop implantable bioelectric medicines, a branch of medicine that works to fight diseases by targeting electrical signals in the body. More

San Francisco-based Omada Health, an online and mobile behavioral medicine company, announced today a partnership with the American Medical Association and a new customer, Utah-based Intermountain Healthcare system, which will offer Omada’s flagship diabetes prevention program (DPP), Prevent, to its patients. More

Australian digital health company ResApp, which makes announced that it is planning to conduct a clinical study with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). With ResApp, which makes smartphone apps for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory illnesses, MGH will embark on a study of pediatric treatments. 

Stanford University is now using the  Surgical Theater’s Virtual Reality (VR) as a means of bridging gaps in patient education. With Surgical Theater's Precision VR medical visualization platform, doctors will build upon the traditional method of a informing patients about their condition. Instead of a neurosurgeon pointing out the tumor or vascular abnormality on a flat, black-and-white 2D image, patients can wear a VR headset to "tour" their bodies – walking into the space between vascular structures and essentially “standing” between arteries and the tumor. They can also access the images on a touchscreen.

Oracle announced that Glen Falls HospitalUniversity of Pittsburgh Medical Center and NYU Langone Medical Center will all be using the Oracle Cloud to modernize their healthcare insight and administrative resources for staff and patients. With the Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud, healthcare institutions have a unified platform to grow from while meeting increasing regulatory requirements around data storage and security. At the same time, this offers a reduction in time spent focusing on process. Oracle's Cloud solutions provide universal reporting and analytics so users can access a complete perspective of its HR functions.

The technology of Mountain View, California-based HealthLoop, makers of an automated patient engagement solution, was selected by Memorial Sloan Kettering to advance patient engagement at the recently opened Josie Robertson Surgery Center (JRSC) in New York City. MSK selected HealthLoop’s technology to engage patients with 5-star service and continuous communication from the date surgery is scheduled through a complete recovery.

Amsterdam’s VU University Medical Center announced it is teaming up with IBM to deploy the company’s analytics-driven suite of apps called IBM MobileFirst. The apps are designed to better coordinate and communicate data across healthcare teams, and the Message for Healthcare app will be the first of the iOS apps that VU University will implement. The IBM MobileFirst apps aim to improve collaboration among healthcare team members for better patient care by putting critical data at their fingertips in a security-rich mobile environment. 


Digital health company WellDoc today announced a collaboration with Human API, the fastest-growing health data platform, through which the two companies will explore the unique integration of type 2 diabetes patient health data within WellDoc’s BlueStar digital therapeutic. Human API’s data platform will provide WellDoc with real-time access to comprehensive clinical patient data ­from its network of 15,000+ pharmacies, health systems and laboratories.

Irving, Texas-based Advanced Plan for Health, a risk-based population health management analytics engine for benefits managers and self-insured employers, is partnering with iHealth Labsmakers of connected blood pressure monitors, glucometers and wireless scales. By integrating with iHealth's mobile health devices and incorporating the health vitals compiled from iHealth's devices into APH's data analytics engine, employers are able to reduce employee health costs, improve health outcomes and empower individuals to be hands-on managers of their own health.

New York health insurer Excellus BlueCross BlueShield partnered with Boston-based Wellframe to make Wellframe's mobile platform a part of its Health Care Improvement team. Excellus’s HCI team focuses on integrating care management and quality improvement programs to close gaps in care, and the partnership with Wellframe will help Excellus to achieve those goals through its mobile appMore

Bright.md, developer of a virtual care solution to improve efficiencies and reduce costs in the delivery of care for non-acute conditions, announced South Carolina’s Greenville Health System and Chicago’s Rush University Medical Group will be using its SmartExam solution. SmartExam is a cloud-based solution that acts as a virtual physician assistant, automating large pieces of the care delivery process, and enabling primary care providers to deliver remarkably efficient remote care online.

New York City-based Smart Vision Labs, creator of the smartphone-based autorefractor for vision testing, announced the launch of the SVOne Enterprise, an intuitive, self-guided vision testing system now available in a handful of New York eyeglasses stores. More

Chicago-based Opternative, makers of a web and smartphone-based eye exam, partnered with contact lens provider 1-800-Contacts to launch InstaRx, an online service that allows existing patients to update their prescriptions without seeing an eye doctor in-person. More

Telecommunications giant AT&T will now power Biotricity, Incs remote patient-monitoring devices with near real-time connectivity for data transmission.

Kognito, the New York City-based patient engagement company that provides simulations with virtual humans, has partnered with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to launch a new series of conversation simulations aimed at getting people better at being, well, people, when it comes to talking about health.
