Walgreens Boots Alliance expanded its partnership with Microsoft and Adobe to launch a digital platform that will deliver personalized healthcare and shopping offerings. It will give Walgreens and Boots customers the ability to access products and services from its pharmacy and retail businesses wherever and whenever they want. This marks WBA’s second phase of its digital transformation.

“At WBA, our mission is to deliver extraordinary experiences that enrich our customers’ lives. Capabilities to combine previously disparate customer data sets, including information from more than 100 million members of our loyalty programs, into a more singular, unified view of the customer – powered by these modern technology platforms – will enable us to truly personalize our omnichannel healthcare and retail offering,” Vineet Mehra, the global chief marketing officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance, said in a statement.

Abbott and Tandem Diabetes Care finalized an agreement that will digitally combine the companies’ diabetes management devices to create an automated insulin-delivery system. They will take Abbott's FreeStyle Libre 2 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and connect it to Tandem's t:slim X2 insulin pump so the two can work together.

"Abbott is working with our partners to bring integrated technologies at an affordable price for people with diabetes who rely on using insulin pumps," Jared Watkin, senior vice president of diabetes care at Abbott, said in a statement. "By combining our glucose sensing technology with Tandem's proven insulin delivery systems, we will be able to create a cohesive ecosystem for people with diabetes that can fit easily into their daily lives."

Welldoc has agreed to provide its diabetes-management platform, BlueStar, to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services for the state’s commercial, Medicare and Medicaid populations. The one-year program is currently recruiting people with diabetes, and will be able to track their blood glucose, nutrition, medication adherence, blood pressure, psychosocial factors, and sleep data to be shared with their care team.

“For years BlueStar has proven to help those with diabetes track multiple dimensions of their health and, more importantly, stay connected to their provider or team, regardless of location,” said Kevin McRaith, CEO at Welldoc, in a statement. “Montana is a leader in offering telehealth services to its rural population, and we hope to bring those same benefits to those with a chronic disease in a rural setting. Remote patient monitoring and telehealth are accelerating in adoption given the sustainability and scalability of these tools, especially in our current circumstances.”

Virtual Health Partners and Gold’s Gym have struck a deal that will allow members of Humana’s GO365 wellness and rewards program to have access to Gold’s Gym’s virtual workout classes, nutrition and training tips, and progress trackers. The deal helps members earn points for their activity and receive reimbursements from Humana.
