Singaporean startup develops breath test for analysing fat burning

Metanoia Sensing, a deep tech startup in Singapore, has come up with a breath analyser to help people monitor their fat burning and gain insights into their metabolic health risks.

The non-invasive device called MetaNose uses a Micro-Electro-Mechanical System acetone sensor and a proprietary signal processing algorithm to measure volatile organic compounds and analyse the oxidative stress of lipid metabolism or fat burning. 

According to the company, MetaNose is the "best companion for individuals who are on a ketogenic diet, exercising or simply trying to lose fat." It added that its measurements can help users work towards their fitness goals and monitor the effectiveness of their ketogenic diet and workout routines.

Lunit enhances chest x-ray reading at Radlink

South Korean medical AI company Lunit is delivering its AI-powered chest x-ray analysis solution to Radlink, one of Singapore's largest diagnostic imaging centres.

According to a press statement, it will be supplying the Lunit INSIGHT CXR to Radlink over the next three years, improving its reading accuracy and diagnostic efficiency. 

Lunit shared that it plans to negotiate with Radlink to add its other AI solutions, including the Lunit INSIGHT MMG for mammography analysis, to its contract.

South Korea clears new chest 3D analysis software

Another South Korean medical device company, Medical IP, has recently obtained the approval of South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its chest x-ray analysis software. 

The software-as-a-medical device called TiSepX transforms chest x-rays into 3D images to analyse the condition of the lungs and adjacent organs. It can also calculate the lung volume using a deep learning model.

Following its approval, Medical IP targets to expand its line of chest 3D analysis software to analyse the heart, bones, and blood vessels. It is also now in the process to acquire overseas clearances and seeking partners to adopt its technology.

Chinese rehab tech maker SiYi raises $15M in Series A funding

China-based provider of smart rehabilitation solutions SiYi Intelligence has snapped up $15 million in a Series A funding round led by Chengdu Bio-town Equity Investment Fund, with participation from its existing investor, Tao Capital.

The company develops rehab robots for clinical and home use and scientific research. Its portfolio consists of a robotic hand glove, an exoskeleton walking suit, assistive BCIs, and an upper limb rehab robot. Founded in 2017, SiYi is now serving a customer base of around 3,000 clinics and 50,000 households in over 80 countries worldwide.

According to a press release, its fresh funds will be used to accelerate the R&D of integrated solutions for neurorehabilitation and build a digital rehab service platform.
