GoodRx, a prescription savings platform, has launched GoodRx for Pets, which aims to offer a more affordable and convenient method for people to access pet medications.

With GoodRx for Pets, pet owners can save money on medications, according to the company, and have pet medications delivered to their door.

Through GoodRx for Pets, pet owners can access medications that are available at more than 70,000 retail pharmacies nationwide for common pet conditions, such as allergies, anxiety, diabetes, pain and seizures.

Additionally, GoodRx users can access pet-specific medications that aren’t available in retail pharmacies via the platform, and offers an integrated e-commerce experience powered by Allivet.

"Pet owners have been using GoodRx for years to save on medications for their beloved pets for conditions like anxiety and seizures  to the tune of several million prescriptions per year," Aaron Crittenden, senior vice president of Rx Marketplace at GoodRx, said in a statement.

"It's a pretty strong signal of value when people use your platform for something you haven't actively pursued. So, we decided to build a focused experience for pet owners with a broader range of medications, more savings, and easy access through both pharmacies and home delivery. We're excited about what GoodRx for Pets can do for American households over time."

THE LARGER TREND

In 2024, GoodRx unveiled an e-commerce solution with Opill, its launch partner. The direct-to-consumer shopping experience allows consumers to order eligible health products and medications on the GoodRx platform and have them shipped directly to their door.

The move marked GoodRx’s entry into the over-the-counter market and represented partnership opportunities for consumer health and pharmaceutical brands looking to leverage GoodRx’s reach and scale.

GoodRx also announced the availability of new affordability programs for menopause hormone therapies by Pfizer last year. Via the GoodRx platform, the programs broadened access and affordability of crucial medications for women.

In 2023, CVS Caremark, a pharmacy benefit manager and part of CVS Health, partnered with GoodRx to launch Caremark Cost Saver, providing Caremark's members access to GoodRx's lower-cost prescription pricing.
