Dr. Joshua Mandel has left his position at Alphabet's Verily as health IT ecosystem lead for a position as chief architect at Microsoft Healthcare. Mandel isn't the only big name Microsoft just picked up; Jim Weinstein, former CEO of Dartmouth-Hitchcock, joined the company at the same time as VP and head of innovation and health equity.

Healthcare technology venture capital firm Flare Capital has brought on Sarah Sossong, a digital health innovator who helped launch telehealth initiatives at Kaiser Permanente and Massachussets General Hospital, as a new principal. Sossong served most recently as the senior director for the Center for Telehealth at Massachusetts General.

Medidata, a New York City-based company that offers cloud storage and data analytics services for clinical trials, announced the hire of Jim (Hui) Xu, the company's new general manager in the Chinese market. The announcement comes after the company saw its Chinese customer base double in 2017.

Healthcare data company Innovaccer has brought on Dr. Paul Grundy, president of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative and an early advocate of patient-centered medical homes, in the role of distinguished healthcare leader. In this role, according to a press release, Grundy will "help the company in developing key strategies aimed at transforming primary care using a new approach to healthcare technology."
